Forget Black Friday: this year, retailers are basically doing Black November. Which is honestly fine because now we have a little more time to separate out the deals that are actually steals from the fake sales from companies that might not exist by the time we get to December. As ever, the gear team at Outdoor Life has tracked down the most interesting deals for everything from pricey solar generators to cottage gear companies.

Cottage Gear Companies

Is that a Patagonia label there on that puffer jacket? Nope, it’s the OG down brand: Feathered Friends. Laura Lancaster

I’m stoked about the great sales that are on now from the cottage backpacking brands. If you want the real good stuff — the gear that you might end up using for the rest of your outdoor career — this is where you’ll find it. Unlike other so-called deals, they are almost never on sale, so don’t sleep on this one.

Feathered Friends is closing out some of their down jackets, including the Eos.

Katabatic is 15% off store-wide

  • Not only does Katabatic make one of the best backpacking quilts, I’m currently testing one of their down jackets and I’m beyond impressed with its durability and warmth.

Enlightened Equipment is 20% off store-wide

Six Moon Designs is 25% off store-wide

  • If you’ve been struggling with the fit of your backpack, then you should absolutely pick up the SMD Swift X, which has great adjustment points that better contour to a wider variety of body types.

Gossamer Gear is up to 30% off store-wide

  • I’m bummed that GG’s latest and greatest — The Whisper — isn’t part of this sale, but no matter: The One and The Two are some of the best values in trekking pole tents out there.

Slingfin is 20% off store-wide

If you are looking for even more deals on great cottage brands, Garage Grown Gear’s holiday sale is live now.

If you haven’t the (sad) news yet, Mystery Ranch is being fazed out. Now is the time to snag one of their backpacks, thought by many to be the most comfortable out there. For Black Friday, Mystery Ranch has taken 25% off their backpacks.

Tents

We’re watching this category closely for sales as manufacturers offload old models before new regulations on PFAS come into effect in 2025. Don’t wait to upgrade, this is the best deal you’re going to get for a while.

Talk to gear editor Scott Einsmann and you’ll quickly find out what a big fan of Solo Stove he is. While I’m not super impressed by their sale thus far ($50 off? that’s all?), here are some awesome deals on similar products.

Solar Generators and Power Stations

I’ll be honest, it would be easier to tell you which brands aren’t having deals than which ones are. Since you have your pick of the litter, I’m recommending these top picks based on our test of the best solar generators and best portable power stations.

If you got burned in a recent power outage, the EcoFlow Delta 2 is what you want. Very portable, holds tons of power effectively for the long haul, and this sale is actually really good.
